I have been sewing ... promise =) Here's a few craft projects I've been working on, been busy trying to get some Christmas gifts, baby gifts and just generally delayed craft project finished up. One weekend reciently I got down to business & actually completed some projects! Super hero capes for two of the cutest kids I know....
Baby 'burp' rags for an adorable baby to be =)
Book bags for little ones...
Christmas stockings to hubs & I =)
I've got a few more things on the agenda... so we'll see how motivated I can get before Christmas time. If not, it will have to wait till the new years! My ideas from Pinterest are stacking up to be quite a few, so looking forward to having Mom over here so she can get 'crafty' with me!!! =) xx

Dye job!

Once again, another dark navy blue colour has leaked into a lighter colour ... gurrrr! Ohhh well, at least I'm getting some practice on how to dye clothes =)

This was the dress.. I only got to wear it once and then it was stuffed. Not sure if you can tell in these photos, but now that the colours have ran into each other it looks dirty...

So I bought some dye.... I'm into orange lately... love the colour!

And then I mixed it up...and patiently waited for 45 minutes while it soaked.

And TA-DA it's defiantly brighter - ha!

However this process isn't over... as you can see, when it dried there are some 'not so dyed bits'.... so I think I'm going to cut it off and make it into a shirt...

Stay tuned...

Shoe clips

A while ago at one of our craft days, my girlfriend Nikki was making shoe clips. I hadn't thought about it - what a great way to 'doll' up a pair of shoes!!

I found these cute feathers online and though they'd make adorable shoe clips.

Ha - I LOVE!!! =)

Holiday dress!

We're going on holidays soon.... 4 weeks to be exact! I have yet to own a good swimming suit cover up & Pete suggested I make one!

Done! I had a few ideas in my head.... no pattern to follow. Here's the results... what do you think???

I love how the bottom of the skirt turned out, the material looks so cool! Plus I used Mom's flower idea again to add a little something =)

Fun, light fabric that will be super easy to toss over a swimming suit & dry quickly!

Ohhh p.s. This is where we're going in Thailand... =)

Aprons..

I've had a break from aprons lately, but wanted to make one for someone special and finally found time to do it!

This lucky loved one will get a package in the mail soon! xx

Headbands...

I've been wanting to make some headbands lately.. and I finally got around to it.
I made this one for the races we went to, love how it turned out and have worn it so much since then + it's super comfy!!

I started out with this...once again a great way to use up scraps!

Then added some elastic...

Making the flowers - this was an idea of Mom... THANKS MOM!!! =)

Love!! Now I just need to make some more! =)

Kids book bag

I'm trying to get myself motivated to get some Christmas gifts done early. I found this adorable owl fabric and thought I'd make something out of it. It started out as a 'bubble skirt' and then when that failed I made it into a book bag. =)

Love how it turned out =)

'Skirten' around'

I know this blog has been boring for a while with no new posts... however I have been busy sewing... promise!

Lately it's been skirts, skirts, skirts.....

I haven't been making anything overly exciting, just playing around with material and ideas that pop into my head. Some fail, some are successful. I haven't been following any patterns either, so as you can imagine - some things turn out shocking! ha!

I had loads of scrap material that I loved, but had no idea what to make. Two weekends ago, Pete & I got to go to the races with our friends Nick & Bel. So the scraps came in handy when I needed to make a skirt....

After sewing all the scraps together, I decided to sew them to a spare black slip I had but never wore... pretty perfect in my mind - a ready made skirt =)

The skirt....

And on race day...

I made this skirt out of some adorable fabric that my mom sent me. It's for a gift & slightly tight on me... but you get the idea.

Next off I made this skirt, with my fingers crossed that it would be a great holiday skirt....loved the material!

However it's a little too snug for my liking.. so not sure what I'll do with it just yet.

And finally I used up some of the tee shirts that Mom sent me! This skirt is a bit random, as I was using it as a trial skirt and just using loads of ideas that I had in my head.... it turned out pretty cute. Weird, but cute.

So that's the skirts for now....

Any ideas that anyone has for me to try next????
