Aprons!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE making aprons. I think they are super cute & fun to wear! I feel like an 'old fashion' housewife when I wear mine and it makes me smile... like my hubby is coming home from work & I'm taking a hot apple pie out of the oven! =) Not that that scenario actually plays out at our house - but it's fun to imagine!

Soo I've had to delay posting this blog up & giving out the address because this apron was a birthday gift. I'm going to give it to the lucky birthday girl BELINDA this coming week. Soooo that's the reason for the delay! =)

I got Bel a 'retro cookbook - now & then' for her birthday & thought that it would be fun to make her a cute apron to go along with the cookbook. If you know Bel like I do - you know she LOVES to cook & is simply amazing at it! =)

I hope you enjoy this Bel - when you get it! =) Happy birthday!!! xx

Why the name??

I thought I'd better let you know why I named my blog 'Crooked Stitch'.. it's because that is the name I've chosen to label all my designs with. Why such a random name you may ask? Because once you've seen my stitching, you'll understand =)

In a nutshell - I'm not all about straight lines... they bore me! =)

Skirts with ZIPS!

Yes, you heard me right.... I have figured out how to put zips in. It's almost like learning to ride a bike... I am really that proud! =)

We had a long weekend for the Easter holiday earlier this month and I spent some time sewing - it was lovely. I'd made a trip to IKEA and stocked up on some fabric. If you enjoy sewing or just want some fantastic fabric at a great price to work with... then head to IKEA - I love their canvas fabric! They have a really large selection & great designs too!

These two skirts were my newest addition to my closet!

This skirt was fun to make. A panel skirt - looks complicated (at least I thought so) but it's rather easy and looks super cute on!

Apologies for the 'un-ironed' look, I had actually just worn this to meeting that night and decided to finally start documenting my sewing. =)

This skirt is crazy & I love it. Super bright colours and just a bit out there. It's a great skirt - because it's the 'feature' so you can toss on a simple black top & plain shoes and you have a unique outfit! *love*

I'm working out all the features & cool gadgets on my sewing machine and I've been having fun with the 'stitching' options .... by adding this great 'lace' boarder and then some yellow stitching on top, I thought it added a bit of 'funk' to the skirt!

First zip!

I totally did not accomplish this by myself - but instead had some help from the lovely Val Allan!!! She was kind enough to spend an afternoon with my when she was in Sydney last year & walked me through putting a zip in =)

This skirt is super simple and so easy to wear + it looks cute! SCORE!

Yes... that is a zip that you see!!!

I love adding different material along the top edge or the boarder of the skirt
